I agree whole heartedly with Doug. Thank you , Doug.Climate change , online misinformation and disinformation are enormous issues confronting the world and need to be discussed and addressed. You only need to talk with someone from India about the intolerable temperatures or someone from the Pacific to hear about coastal inundation. Pope Francis presented his concerns in Laudato and my reading is that Pope Leo will continue to promote Laudato Si etc.
Millions died due to Covid. We must never forget. Talk with someone who lives in USA, UK or Italy etc and who lost loved ones. Speak to the hundreds of Health Professionals who lost colleagues due to Covid. It was a devastating period in recent world history.
Re the Abortion legislation, her vote was just one of 68 for the Bill. Read the list available on line and you can clearly see who voted for what.
Re history, I am proud of Dame Jacinda discussing NZs pivotal moments in World History to the young grads at Yale. History is our educator. Eg during the Irish famine ,the extremely poor and oppressed Choctaw people raised money to help the people of Midleton, Cork. The story could have been lost but for a journalist who resurrected the story in 1980's which kindled/ rekindled a bond between the Irish and the Choctaw. During Covid when the Choctaw were being decimated the Irish nation responded in kind to financially assist them and certainly saved lives.
We must never forget. We must be able to access correct information. We must protect our world.
“She is still referencing COVID, climate change alarmism, and online misinformation, as if they are the conversations and concerns of the present moment.”
Well they certainly still are concerns to me. Also, I don’t think she should be disqualified from talking about the lessons of the Springbok tour and the Rainbow Warrior bombing just because she was a child. We should all be cognisant of history’s lessons regardless of whether we were adults or not at the time.
Interesting to read these two comments 🤦♀️🤷♀️
